Asking and Tasking

“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” Mark 11:24

Prayer is an exciting venture between God and each one of us. God will use you to accomplish great things in the spirit, and all you need is a relationship with Him. You don’t have to have certain personal credentials or human connections to pray. You don’t have to have a flawless past or years of experience. All you need is a humble and willing heart, and God will partner with you to accomplish His will in the earth.

As a person living on the earth, you have a God-given authority in the earth, as long as you are in your body. While you are in your earthly body, you have the right and responsibility to choose either to submit to God or not. You also have the right and responsibility to care for the earth and the things that concern you and your nation. Since the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, you have been delegated the right and responsibility to cooperate with God to see His will accomplished. Therefore, prayer is more about praying out what God wants for your life and the lives of others, and what God wants for you and others is for good.

In Mark 11, Jesus teaches the disciples how to take authority over something that is not functioning the way God wants it to, and see miracles happen. In this situation, Jesus cursed a fig tree that was not producing when He needed it, and the tree died. When the disciples were amazed that the tree had died, Jesus told them that they could move a mountain if they spoke to it in faith and in surrender to the will of God. Then He said, “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” Sometimes we are in prayer, or communion with God, God reveals something to us that we need to do something other than pray about it. We need to go from asking to tasking. We need to do something about it. In submission to God’s will, we need to speak to the situation and command it to change, by the authority we have as representatives of Christ and His name, the name of Jesus.

Sometimes we ask God for something we know is in line with His will, but then wonder why God didn’t move. Sometimes God is waiting for us to move. Putting action to our faith is often what is necessary to get the job done.

Application: Is there something that you have been asking that maybe you should be “tasking?” Today determine to use your authority to speak to your situation and believe for the power of God to be released.
