2 Timothy 1

It seems Timothy may have been feeling weary, shamed, and fearful. Have you ever been there? Paul encourages Timothy to stir up the gift within himself. While our church family and our pastor can help edify us, we often are responsible for stirring ourselves up. How? It’s a spiritual matter, so it involves spiritual activity. Praying, worshipping, and reading the Bible are things we are to do on our own to stir ourselves spiritually. Praying in the spirit, or praying in tongues, will stir us up. Making declarations of God’s promises out loud is an activator. Taking authority over our soul and over the enemy are also important in staying liberated in God. Remind yourself of God’s faithfulness, of the gift within you, and the Spirit of God who has been sent to help you; and be encouraged!

Jeremiah 20-22

Do you love to experience God and hear His voice? Jeremiah knew and heard the voice of God, which is a privilege; but Jeremiah also experienced the anointing of the Holy Spirit. In chapter 20 verse 9 Jeremiah writes, “His word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, and could not.” When the Holy Spirit is on us, there is a power that cannot be contained! When we yield to the Spirit’s moving, it is an experience like no other!

Let’s also look at chapter 22 verse 18, “He judged and defended the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well. Was not [all] this [what it means] to know and recognize Me? says the Lord.” To know the Lord means to act on and carry out the heart of God. When we catch His heart for the hurting, we can’t help but to help bring change for those who are oppressed.
