1 Chronicles 8-10
In our reading today we see how that because of Saul disobedience, his body and armor and the bodies of his sons and their armor became trophies for the enemy (1 Chronicles 10:8-10). It is not the will of God that we become trophies for the devil. It is the will of God that we be what the Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthian church. 2 Corinthians 2:14 “But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ’s victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere.” Praise God I am one of Christ’s trophies!
In our reading today is one of the gold nuggets of truth that I rejoice to find, in one of the many confrontations that Jesus had with the religious leaders of Israel. In this one Jesus declares himself to be God. John 8:56-58 “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. 8:57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.” The response of the Jews was to stone Jesus, why? Because Jesus was declaring to them that he was God that appeared to Moses in the burning bush. His response to the Jews was, “Before Abraham was, I am.” When Moses was at the burning bush, God spoke to Moses and said: “And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you” (Exodus 3:14).
