John 13:1-17

In John 13 is the story of Jesus washing the disciple’s feet. In verse 14, Jesus tells the disciples that if He, as their authority, served the people by humbling Himself to wash their feet, then they should have the same mind and heart to serve others.

In verse 16, Jesus says they are not greater than Him, and He says He is not greater the Father who sent Him. Jesus had the heart to love and serve others. God has the same characteristic to love and serve others. We are to learn from their example. Let’s be reminded to pursue love, humility, and a heart to serve others. God will anoint us when we sacrifice ourselves and act in love.

2 Chronicles 7-9

Chapter 7 records the dedication of the temple. Also, Ezra writes about God’s second appearance to Solomon. In verse 13, God says, “When I shut up heaven and there is no rain,” or there are locusts or pestilence among My people, we read verse 14, which we often quote:

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Chapter 8 records some of Solomon’s achievements. Chapter 9 tells of the Queen of Sheba, Solomon’s wealth, and Solomon’s death.
