Mark 4:21-41

Jesus gives parables, or illustrative stories, to teach kingdom principles. He taught in parables so people would lean on the Holy Spirit to get their understanding. Jesus spoke about the light under a basket, the growing seed, and the mustard seed.

In verses 35-41, Jesus calms the storm through authority over nature and the power of God backed Him up. He didn’t pray for the storm to stop; He spoke to the storm, commanding the wind and waves, “Peace, be still!” This is how the kingdom operates in the spirit. Our words, spoken with authority, are backed by the power of God.

He turns to the disciples, and says, “How is it that you have no faith?” First of all, they should be confident that God would protect them. They did not foolishly put themselves in that position. When the storm came, they should know that God was watching over them. Second, they needed to learn what was possible for them to do. They didn’t have to wake Jesus; they could have spoken to the storm themselves.

What is possible for us today? Can we speak to bodies and command healing? Yes! Can we speak to demons and command them to come out of a person or stop their activity? Absolutely! If we are in a dangerous storm, could we speak to nature and command it to be still? Yes! Jesus said His disciples were to do what He did, plus He said they would do greater things. Are you His disciple? Then have faith, rely on God, and use the words of your mouth to take authority in the earth!

Numbers 7-8

In chapter 7, we read about offerings from the leaders. In verse 89, Moses went into the tabernacle of meeting to speak with the Lord, and he heard Him speak from above the mercy seat.

In chapter 8, The Lord gives instruction on the lamps and the cleansing and dedication of the Levites. In verse 16, God says that He took the Levites for Himself instead of the firstborn who open the womb. The firstborn were dedicated to the Lord, illustrative of Christ.  They could start working in the tabernacle at age 25. At age 50, the Levites could still assist, but they were no longer obligation to work in the tabernacle.
