Revelation 15
The rapture has happened. As a prelude to the judgments, there is worship in heaven. We see people who are said to have victory over the beast, the Antichrist, with musical instruments, standing before God. They sing of the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb. As ones who were oppressed and now free, they sing of the holiness of God and His justice.
After the worship, John sees the temple of God, the pattern after which the earthly tabernacles and temples were made. From the heavenly temple, angels come out. One of the four living creatures gave to each angel a golden bowl full of the wrath of God.
No one was permitted in the temple until the bowls of wrath, or plagues, were poured out on the earth. The purpose for the wrath, or the plagues, is for purification as part of the Day of the Lord.
Zephaniah
Zephaniah, a prophet to Judah, writes about the wrath of a loving God, urging people to learn from Israel, the northern kingdom, and recognize that God is involved in world affairs. Zephaniah prophesies a Day of the Lord that applies to their present day, but here, the Day of the Lord also refers to the time after the Great Tribulation, speaking of consuming every living thing and coming against all nations of the earth.
In chapter 2 there is a call to repentance and judgment on the nations.
In chapter 3 Zephaniah calls out the wickedness in Jerusalem and speaks of a faithful remnant.
Zephaniah 3:17 “The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
The first word for rejoice in Hebrew is sus (#7797), meaning “irresistible joy.” The second word for rejoice in Hebrew is gil (#1523), meaning “to dance or spin.” Imagine your Father God dancing and spinning with joy. This is the Almighty God over His Jewish people who promises to save, He promises to quiet and bring peace to His people with His love. As a Gentile Christian, when I read of His character to love, save, and rejoice; I believe He does the same over any of His children. God is a dancer. God is a spinner. God rejoices over us!
