1 Corinthians 7:25-40

Again, we know Paul said he was writing this portion of the letter from his own opinion and not the inspiration of God. He encourages people not to marry because of the “impending distress (Amplified Version) of the world.” We know from history that Rome would soon attack Jerusalem and the temple, sending the Jew scattering from oppression. The Amplified also brings out this phrase in verse 29: “the appointed time as been winding down and it has grown very short.” Paul may have through Christ would return, or he might have been referring to the scattering of the Jews. It was a very difficult time for the Jewish people, so marrying and having families was something Paul was cautioning. Paul said men and women were not in sin to marry and have children, and the same is true today.

Psalm 128-131

Each and every person that has ever existed has experienced sin and its effects. There is not one person without sin, except for Jesus. Sin has pronounced each of us guilty of transgressing against God. Sin has also brought trouble, and for that, humanity is responsible. Here are some things that sin can do:
Sin causes feelings of guilt, shame, and fear.
Sin causes a fight for control between individuals, groups, and nations.
Sin twists the heart nature of mankind to be evil and do wicked things.
Because of the entrance of sin into the world, Satan and his demons have authority in the earth.
Because of sin entering the world, nature itself has been affected, causing havoc at times.
Psalm 130:3 says, “If You, Lord, should keep account of and treat [us according to our] sins, O Lord, who could stand?” the answer is “no one.” All of us are guilty, so God sent Jesus, guiltless, to become a human being, born into the world. He grew, He ministered, He suffered and died in our place, and then God raised Jesus from the dead. If not for Jesus, no one could stand before God. Because of Jesus we can stand before God, being made upright through His work on the cross. Hallelujah!
